What to Expect

Nestled in Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Watan is a presidential palace that was recently opened to the public. One of the finest examples of Arabic architecture and craftsmanship, the palace’s design signifies its heritage and its future vision. The palace has its own library with books on a wide range of subjects including archaeology, history, heritage, memoirs, biographies, human and social sciences, statistics, administration, culture, literature, arts, etc. It also has its own gift shops; one at the Visitors Center and the other at the palace building. One of the major attractions of the palace is its light and sound show, which depicts the history and growth of the UAE as a nation. This show has been divided into three acts: past, present, and future.

There are several zones that you will explore along your journey.

The Great Hall: Step into a true testament of traditional Arabian craftsmanship and artistry. Within this grand space, you will gain a deeper appreciation of the region’s architectural and artistic legacy. From the central dome and archways to the ornamentation and mosaic patterns, The Great Hall is truly a sight to behold. Presidential Gifts: Explore a collection of gifts signifying a legacy of good will between the UAE and the world. Designed as a vibrant showcase of cultural exchange and international diplomacy, this exhibition offers you the chance to get up close and personal with some of the most cherished diplomatic gifts received by the UAE. You will also learn about the cultural considerations and protocols that are involved in selecting diplomatic gifts.

Spirit of Collaboration: Walk into the space where the region’s future is being decided. Here is where entities such as the Federal Supreme Council, the Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council come together to express ambitions, set agendas, and map the way forward. You can learn about diplomacy and protocol as you admire the iconic chandelier and circular layout of the room, symbolizing the UAE’s commitment to equality and illumination.

Qasr Al Watan Library: Unlock a legacy of knowledge told through an incredible collection of timeless literature. Envisioned by HH the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Qasr Al Watan Library is aimed at preserving and sharing centuries of Arabian knowledge and culture with the world. Featuring a collection of 50,000 books from various ages of Arabian scholarship, this library is an expansive space where history and knowledge help inspire and mold the future.

The Presidential Banquet: Discover how our nation hosts the world. Behind these doors lies an immaculately set banqueting hall wherein officials from around the globe are treated to a unique taste of Emirati hospitality. You can enjoy an in-depth introduction to the customs, protocols, cuisine and even the unique collections of silver, crystal and china that make this experience a truly remarkable, world-class affair.

House of Knowledge: Uncover the monumental influence of Arabian scholarship on human civilization and progress. The regular show time of Palace in Motion begins at 07:30 PM. Timings may change and are subject to sunset timings.

Bags and cases with more dimensions than 500 X 350 won’t be allowed inside the palace.

Outside food and drinks are not allowed inside the venue.

Pets are not allowed inside the venue, with the exception of service animals with valid identification

Photography on mobile phones and DSLR cameras is allowed but for non-commercial use only.

Prayer rooms for both men and women are available.

Please make sure to keep your mobile phones on silent mode before entering the palace.
